Glaucoma:

Medi-Cal Insurance Notice:
Due to California State Budget shortages, Medi-Cal will still allow exams for adults over the age of 21. However frames and lenses are no longer covered by MediCal plans.
Children under the age of 21 will still have coverage for exams, frames and lenses.
Cataracts:
Recent studies have shown that women that take Vitamin C and Lutien (found in leafy green vegetables) are 18% less likely to develop Cataracts.
Arcus:
A VSP study revealed that 98% of study participants who had corneal Arcus ( a white ring that surrounds the cornea) also had metabolic issues related to diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high choleterol whcih can lead to Cardiovascular problems.

Regularly eathing fish, nuts, olive oil and other foods containing omega 3 fatty acids and avoiding trans fats appears to be associated with a lower risk of developing macular degeneration.
Dry Eyes:
Omega 3’s and flaxseed oil also reduce the symptoms of dry eyes.
